This should not make you worried, know that there are solutions to this when you apply them your tiles will be restored to their new condition.

Methods of Getting Rust Off Tiles

Using Lemon

This is great for ceramic tiles, even if you don’t like the taste or smell of lemon but its cleaning properties are undeniable, especially to remove rust from tiles. This can be done in several ways.

Pouring it directly on the rust, waiting for 5 minutes, don’t let it dry before using an old toothbrush or hard sponge and scrub the area. You can do this for harder stains by adding salt, letting it rest for 3 hours, and scrubbing it off while pouring warm water.

Another method of cleaning rust on tile with lemon is by mixing the lemon juice with bicarbonate of soda, afterward apply it to the stain then scrub it off after 30 minutes with brush and sponge.

Using Certain Condiments

There are some condiments that you can use to remove rust from your tile, these are vinegar and salt. All you have to do is mix them together to create a paste then apply the paste to the rust, you would then leave it for at least three hours, after washing the paste off the stain should be cleaned off.

Citrus (Lime or Lemon) and Borax

This mixture is quite harsh on the skin so it is advisable that you wear hand gloves when you do it, specifically protective hand gloves. While wearing the gloves mix the above-stated ingredients together, you can use lime or lemon or both, let it be a paste; spread it on the rust, after it dries you should wash it off with warm water and sponge.

Try Salt

If you have vinyl tiles the previously discussed mixtures might not work for you so here is one that will. You can mix salt and lemon or lime juice to form a paste, apply the paste to the area in question, leave it for a couple of hours then wipe it off. This method works. As the mixture remains on the rust it will absorb the rust and turn orange, this should happen before you wipe it off.

These are effective ways of getting rust off of your tiles.
