Easy 30-Second Instagram ‘Filmmaking Tutorial’ Using Your iPhone

The social media community is a very big one. People use different social media platforms for different things. It could be just for fun, business, to create an audience, and so on. Whichever one it is, how you manage it matters. Instagram is one of the most popular social media platforms. It is widely used to post pictures and videos. Instagram videos are not your every day 15 to 30 second TV commercials. They are a way to connect with your audience. Nowadays, Instagram users have been experimenting with different ways to create mind-blowing 30-second videos for their audience.

Instagram can be used for visual storytelling and a lot of brands are making good use of the opportunity. Instagram videos are a great marketing strategy for business people. You can film and upload directly from your phone. They could be anywhere between 2-60 seconds. I’m sure you must have seen some Instagram videos which could be about 30 seconds. How do you film such videos? Can you do that with your iPhone? Yes, of course!

There are some apps you can use to shoot and edit Instagram videos on your iPhone. Here are some of them:

1. iMovie

2. 8mm vintage camera

3. PicPlayPost

4. Instasize

5. Lapse It

With these apps, you can comfortably shoot and edit your videos on your iPhone. Some of them are available on the Google play store too.

Here’s what you should bear in mind:

1. Set clear goals: It can be very difficult to tell an engaging story within 30 seconds or one minute. Therefore, adequate planning is necessary. Know exactly what you want to include in the video because any unnecessary part will just make it longer.

2. Be precise. Go straight to the point

3. Use on-screen captions

4. Don’t forget you are telling a story that is meant to engage and compel your audience.

Video Lighting

There’s nothing better than a very clear Instagram video. Make sure you use natural light to record your videos. Don’t shoot your videos under overhead lights. It could make your videos unattractive and dull.

Shooting The Video

1. Since you are filming with your iPhone, you can either use portrait or landscape mode. Don’t worry, Instagram won’t crop it out.

2. Keep the phone focused on whatever you are filming. You could be filming yourself or something else. You can choose the focus mode by tapping the exact part of your iPhone screen you want to be in focus.

3. Let your phone be steady

4. Go ahead to record.

Like I said earlier, there are several apps you can use for cutting and editing. Some of them have been listed above. Choose your preferred one and start filming. It’s very easy and if you’re still confused, remember that practice makes perfect. Another good thing about Instagram videos is the ability to choose the content. You can focus your videos on one particular niche and grow your audience from there. Creativity and flexibility is the key!

Computer Technology 101: How to Connect to a Wired Network

Many homes and offices are now switching to wired networks. A wired network is preferred when you want to perform some activities requiring a fast connection. People would often switch to a wired network to make the transfer of large files easy. Gamers also prefer to use a wired network, because of its reliable service. A wired network connection will give you quick streaming and crystal clear HD on movie sites like Netflix and Hulu.

People would choose a wired network for everything that requires a fast network. Fortunately, connecting your computers to a wired network is not hard, so you don’t need a technician. This article will teach you how to connect to a wired network by yourself.

Things You Need To Connect To A Wired Network

Router: A router helps to connect all your machines. It serves as a glue to hold your internet and your machine all in one connection. A router is easy to use. All you have to do is plug your modem into the port on your router using an Ethernet cable and then to your machines.

Switches: Switches helps to direct traffic within ports.

Hubs: Hubs are similar to switches, only that they direct traffic in one lane. They are cheaper than switches and are only useful for servers receiving data from multiple machines.

Cable: After getting the router and ports for your devices, you will need to use cables to connect them up.

(Read this to understand the difference between a hub, aswitch, and a router.)

Stringing Up Your Connection

There’s nothing compared to the internet speed you get from connecting your router with an Ethernet cable. If your device is in a different room, maybe an adjacent room, you can run the cable beneath your carpet or rug or behind the furniture. Also, you can have the wires displayed creatively if you have a thing for the craft.

Connecting Your PC to a Wired Network

You have chosen the fastest internet option if you have set up your connection with an Ethernet cable and have an Ethernet port on your PC. Now, you need to plug in a network cable to set up a wired network. There is a wired network icon with three dots on the top bar of your PC. This icon disappears when you are connected to a wired network.

If the icon doesn’t disappear, you should check your network cable to ensure it is plugged in. One end of the cable goes into the rectangular network (Ethernet) port on your computer, while the other goes into a router, socket, or switch. You should also check for a light beside the Ethernet port as this indicates that the cable is plugged in and active.

Now turn on your computer to completely reboot. Acknowledge any networking message on your screen if your computer was already on. If the connection doesn’t happen automatically on your computer, configure a network connection on it with the Ethernet cable plugged in. Right-click “My Network” on your desktop, select TCP/IP adapter > properties > IP Address > obtain an IP address automatically > and click “OK”.

If you use an Apple Macintosh, click on the Apple logo > System Preferences > Network > Ethernet adapter on the left list > Advanced > TCP/IP > select Using DHCP from the drop list.

Your computer should be connected to your wired connection after these steps.

What is Adobe Lightroom? — A Brief Introduction

Adobe Lightroom is a photography desktop application which became probably the most commonly used application by professional photographers. The ease of having the ability to handle and process images from one app is a significant part of the reason why professional photographers love it, and it is also a big reason you ought to be using it, too, even when you’ve got no plans to make a career out of photography.

Lightroom is based on a catalog system and will automatically creates and manage folders in several places, even on hard disk drive, without losing track of your pictures. This makes it an incredibly powerful editing tool. Basically, you import your pictures and Lightroom makes it simple to edit and find them again. Among the ways it does this is through a strong search function and the use of keywords which you may add to your pictures whenever you import them into the program.

Its search capability exceeds text-based searches. As a result of facial recognition, Lightroom is able to assist you in finding pictures of specific individuals. This allows you to tag faces and assign a name to them. As soon as you’ve marked a certain person several times, the program will start to suggest facial tags on faces it thinks matches with a face you’ve already tagged. So when you’re having to find an image of your son or daughter, you can just open Lightroom and look for them by name, assuming you did the leg work first and tagged their faces.

The most crucial step in using Lightroom is currently giving it a few pictures to work with. You might have thousands of images somewhere on your computer or phone already, so go for it! Lightroom can work with those in addition to any new ones you take. Lightroom has a ton of presets you can set as well. David Molnar has an excellent tutorial on how to use Lightroom presets. I will be writing more about Lightroom in the coming months as well, so stay tuned! I hope you found this brief overview helpful.
