How to Wrap a Present (Step by Step)

Wrapping a present is one skill that everyone needs to know, especially now that the Christmas holidays are upon us. It may not mean so much if you decide to open up your present when you deliver it. However, it will make it more presentable and surprising when it is properly wrapped.

In this article, we will look at how you can wrap a present properly to make it look presentable, not minding the content of the gift. Follow me through this article, and you just might be the one who teaches your friends and family who also want to learn to wrap presents.

Step 1: Measure the paper

It is always best to measure out the amount of wrapping paper you will need for the present. Remember that you must already have your gift before you begin to cut. Place the present on the wrapping paper and mark the length and breadth of the present on the paper.

Step 2: Cut out the paper

When you have carefully measured the actual size of the present on the paper, you can now move forward to cutting the measurements out of the wrapping paper. Try as much as possible to stick with your markings. You can go above it but try not to go below it; else, you might need to throw the paper away.

Step 3: Fold two ends of the paper

It will be your decision which two ends you want to fold first, but whichever one you choose, ensure that you wrap them up properly and tape them together. This is going to be the basis of your work.

Step 4: Fold down the other two sides

When you have folded the first two ends and taped them together, you will notice that the other two ends are sticking out. Fold them down and tape them to the body of the present.

Step 5: Form a triangle

You can do this by folding in one the wrapping paper from one edge of the present. You will notice that it naturally forms a triangle when you do this.

Step 6: Raise the triangle tail and tape

The job gets easier from here on. Just raise the tail of the triangle to cover the two folded sides and tape everything together firmly. Repeat the same step for the other side of the present, and you’re good to go. Some people may decide to tape the entire box again, but I think that would deface the gift and steal its beauty.

Step 7: Do the decorations

The decoration shouldn’t take much of your time. It merely entails that you tie a beautiful ribbon around the present. If you are wrapping a Christmas present, you should consider using a red ribbon because it represents the color of Christmas.

If you followed all these steps judiciously, you should now have a firmly and beautifully wrapped present that will thrill the benefactor with its looks even before its content is revealed.
